Sorry Grandma, my parents sometimes stink…

September 24th, 2008

Penelope is very disgusted at the moment with us.

She just wants to hide.

She can’t believe we didn’t call Grandma on her birthday.

She keeps giving us the evil eye.

She just wanted to say, “Happy belated birthday grandma!!”

“I can’t wait to see you in October and give you a big hug!!!!”

Feliz Fiestas Patrias Chile (a little late)

September 24th, 2008

Last Thursday, Sept 18, started a weekend of fiestas and asados.  The 18th also known as dieciocho, was Independence Day here and Friday was Glory of the Navy’s Day.

We had a great time at all the parties, though we only have pictures from Saturday.  Though Steve and I wore jeans, Penny was dressed in her beautiful dress (thanks again Lori!!), and was the hit of the party.

Penelope has started noticing her hands more and more and has found that she loves to pull on our hair.

There were many games being played at the party, Penny loved the water balloon toss and can’t wait to participate in a few years.

It was a beautiful day. and we were so happy that we brought a blanket to lay and snooze on together.

We ate a ton of great choris and meat all weekend, Penny had to make do with her hand…

At the end of the Saturday, we were all tired and ready to go home and relax after 3 wonderful days celebrating with our friends.

On Sunday, our Friend Nick came in for an observing run that started Monday.  He was supposed to get in on Saturday, but his flight was cancelled.  Since Sunday was his only day in La Serena to see things, we tried to hit everything,  We went to La Feria (farmers market), downtown La Serena, La Recova, had Pisco sours on the beach, went to Coquimbo to the fort and then headed into the valley to the dam and out to a parillada.  Penelope did great all day, and loved getting to meet Nick.  We all hope he can come down again, though next time, we hope his wife April can come too!!

Aaaaahh Goooooooo!

Penelope is becoming more and more expressive every day. She loves her changing table and is always smiling and babbling up a storm. Here’s a video of her from the other day.

Don’t put real text here.

A typical day in the life of Penelope

September 15th, 2008

People ask me, what do you and Penelope do all day?  Here are some things we did today-

We danced-

Practiced smiling-

Played dress up (wearing a bonnet Penelope’s great great Aunt June made)-

We do belly time every day and practice rolling over-

We also played with Leyna, visited Steve at work, ate a TON and Penny had a big explosion that got all over the green and white striped shirt.  Penny is now in her PJ’s cuddling with her dad after a long day.

Feeling better

September 12th, 2008

Penelope is definitely feeling better.  Yesterday I woke up to find this waiting for me-

After eating breakfast, I got her dressed so we could go out with some friends and found that she has found her hands and enjoys sucking on them.  She hasn’t figured out each individual finger so she tries to shove the whole fist in.

She loves her carseat and is always excited and happy to be in it.  This is her waiting for me to finish getting ready.  She’s in the midst of babbling away, telling me to hurry up-

We had a great day together and since she was awake for most of it, she slept through the night.

Pobrecita

September 10th, 2008

Poor Penelope.  Yesterday, we went and got her first round of vaccinations.  She charmed everyone at the clinic, they kept saying she looked like a muneca (doll).  The shots went well, though in Chile they give them in the arms.  We spent the rest of the day cuddling on the couch.  She slept through the night and only seems a little cranky today.

Penelope pics while sitting in her carseat babbling away-

Snuggling on mom-

A new Sunday tradition in the house

September 9th, 2008

Well, not new to Steve and I, but new for Penelope!

If you can’t tell, we’re watching football.  Penelope seemed to like it, well, for about 2 minutes until she became entranced with the lamp.

Watch out U.S…

Penelope is now able to come visit!!!

Penelope can’t wait to come in October, YAYYYY!!!!!

Penny’s new friend

September 8th, 2008

Penelope is very excited because my friend Camilla had a baby girl on Friday.  Both mom and baby are doing well.  Penelope, Steve and I went to visit them Friday at the hospital and we brought them a meal on Saturday.  Penelope is definitely jealous of all her beautiful hair!!!

How we spent our labor day

September 1st, 2008

First of all, let me tell you what a good baby Penny is.  Last night Sweet Pea slept from 1030 until 645 this morning.  I don’t want to jinx anything, but that makes a week now of her sleeping through the night.  After she ate this morning and Steve went off to work, we cuddled in bed (slept) until she woke up again at 10 am. At 10 she was smiling and kicking her little feet around and moving her little arms. She ate again, I got her dressed, and we (including Leyna) went to the beach for a nice 3 mile walk.  It wasn’t sunny out, but the waves were big, and it wasn’t too cold.  We then went grocery shopping and came home to have lunch with Steve.  While she napped, I reorganized her stuff and then we headed downtown to a local art exhibit and picked up a painting for her room.  She’s now hanging out in her swing talking away while I am having a glass of wine and Steve is playing some wii.
