Feliz Fiestas Patrias Chile (a little late)

Last Thursday, Sept 18, started a weekend of fiestas and asados.  The 18th also known as dieciocho, was Independence Day here and Friday was Glory of the Navy’s Day.

We had a great time at all the parties, though we only have pictures from Saturday.  Though Steve and I wore jeans, Penny was dressed in her beautiful dress (thanks again Lori!!), and was the hit of the party.

Penelope has started noticing her hands more and more and has found that she loves to pull on our hair.

There were many games being played at the party, Penny loved the water balloon toss and can’t wait to participate in a few years.

It was a beautiful day. and we were so happy that we brought a blanket to lay and snooze on together.

We ate a ton of great choris and meat all weekend, Penny had to make do with her hand…

At the end of the Saturday, we were all tired and ready to go home and relax after 3 wonderful days celebrating with our friends.

On Sunday, our Friend Nick came in for an observing run that started Monday.  He was supposed to get in on Saturday, but his flight was cancelled.  Since Sunday was his only day in La Serena to see things, we tried to hit everything,  We went to La Feria (farmers market), downtown La Serena, La Recova, had Pisco sours on the beach, went to Coquimbo to the fort and then headed into the valley to the dam and out to a parillada.  Penelope did great all day, and loved getting to meet Nick.  We all hope he can come down again, though next time, we hope his wife April can come too!!
