Beautiful baby blankets

Since Penelope doesn’t play much with toys yet, blankets are her favorite things.  She lies on them, drools on them, snuggles and sleeps and is bundled in them and even poos on them sometimes-though I won’t post any pictures of that!  She is so lucky to have some beautiful blankets made by some truly talented and wonderful people.

The other day Penelope got a package in the mail.  We opened it up and found her very own bacon blanket from our good friend Heidi- It’s AWESOME!!!  We love it!!

My good friend Anne Marie who I’ve known since 7th grade, made her this beautiful purple blanket.   My friends here are hoping Anne Marie is coming down to visit so she can teach them how to make it!

A special thanks to great aunt Donita who made Penelope a beautiful pink blanket.  Penelope loves to snuggle in it!

And last but not least, Grams made Sweet Pea a beautiful irish blanket.  It was the first blanket Penelope used at the hospital and has been using it ever since!

Mother-Daughter bonding

After the visits with the grandparents, I decided that Penelope needed some one on one time with her mommy today.  So I did what any girl would want to do- we went SHOPPING!  To start out our morning we went to coffee with our friend Veronica then went shopping at the mall.  Apparently we missed the big winter sales (they were last week) but we were able to find some nice boots on sale.  Penelope will get to enjoy hers next winter, while I (who by the way was able to finally find my size here) can enjoy my boots now.  We came home for lunch with Steve and then went down to the beach for a nice walk and then visited with my friends Magaret and Ines and to finish off our day, went to the grocery store.  Sweet Pea was in a great mood all day, charming everyone she met.

Puttin’ on the Ritz*

Penelope (thanks to her mother) has already developed a taste for the fancier things in life.  So when we had to travel to Santiago recently for Penelope’s embassy related things, we stayed at the Ritz-Carlton in the Los Condes area.  It was pretty fancy-pants and Penelope thinks so too.

Penelope thinks the bed is just about the right size for her.  Maybe needs a few more pillows.

Of course, we did go to Santiago to visit the embassy to register Penelope’s birth and apply for her passport.  Things went well and we should be getting her passport very soon!

*and yes I’m aware that puttin’ on the ritz has nothing to do with staying at the Ritz.

8 Weeks already!!

I can’t believe how fast the past 8 weeks have gone by.  Penelope is growing up so fast.  She’s a baby now, not a newborn.  She now will follow objects, people and sounds with her eyes, she has started smiling and is starting to mimic faces, she especially likes to stick out her tongue.  We seem blessed with a happy baby who likes to sleep and isn’t overly cranky.  The past 8 weeks have been the happiest of my life, and I can’t wait to see what the following weeks will bring.  Here are some of my favorite recent pictures of Sweet Pea.
