Inflatable goodness

May 21st, 2009

Today, Penny was invited to her friend Anais’s birthday party.  It was held down at the beach.  In the States I don’t remember having many places like this, but most of the restaurants on the beach have play areas for kids with those big inflatable jumping room, walls and trampolines.  The place the party was at, had a tent you could rent for the afternoon and the kids were able to play on all the stuff.  This was the first time that Penny was actually able to partake in the inflatable fun, and she wasn’t too sure about it.  She kind of just sat in 1 place and waved her arms like a maniac.  Luckily, she had Jack to show her the ropes, and she ended up crawling around a bit.  After the party we went to the casino for some pizza (actually, I had pizza and Penny had whole wheat toast and avocado).  It was really nice to be able to sit together and eat together.  I had a great day with little Penny Jean!

It’s a start

February 16th, 2009

Penny, Leyna and I headed off to the beach this morning for our first run with the running stroller (I’ve been using it all along, though not for running).  I can’t believe it’s taken me almost 8 months to run, but hopefully this is a start.  We walked/ran 3 miles, though I do have to admit to probably more walking than running, but it’s not all my fault.  Leyna dog is out of shape too, and I had to pull her at times to keep up with me.  Penny really seemed to enjoy it and ended up taking a little nap at the end, so Leyna an I relaxed on a bench while she slept.

Beach Baby

January 21st, 2009

Penny was so sad today because her dad left for the mountain, I decided to do something extra special with her.  We spent the afternoon at the beach with some friends and relaxed in the nice fresh air.  Penny had a great time though as soon as I put her in the sand, she grabbed a handful and out it in her mouth.  Why isn’t she so excited to eat her food?

Beach baby

Over the weekend, we had beautiful weather here in La Serena.  We took Penelope to the beach for some photo ops, and I have to say, she is my daughter, SHE LOVED IT!!!! On a side note, I think we found “the one”, you’ll just have to wait to see it.

The New (Old) Camera!

August 18th, 2008

Grandpa Margheim recently got himself a new camera and let me inherit his old camera, the Canon 300D digital SLR.  After years of point-and-shoot, it is good to be back in the world of the SLR, and I’ve been taking picture after picture of sweet pea and everything else.

We have mostly been hanging out at home, just enjoying our time with Penelope.  We went to the beach with Leyna dog on Friday (holiday!) before we ended up getting rained in all weekend with perhaps the worst storm we’ve had in our three years here.  It rained from overnight Friday until Sunday afternoon, and we even had thunder and lightning!  We had a great weekend nonetheless, being stuck inside with Penny is hardly a bad way to spend the weekend.

Don’t forget the Leyna dog…

Super Holiday Happy Time

July 16th, 2008

Penelope has really been enjoying having her grandparents around, maybe even more than Lisa and I.  We all enjoyed watching the All-Star game on Tuesday night.  The Foley’s have been getting Penelope into baseball already.

Go Yankees!

(Go Yankees!)

As you may have heard, the game was a long one and Penelope had a bit of trouble staying up.
Did I mention it was a really, really long game? 15 innings!

Like father, like daughter.

Wednesday was a holiday here in Chile, Dia del Virgen de Carmen.  So after sleeping in, we had a big day together.  Grams and Steve took Leyna to the park in the morning.  Then Lisa and Steve gave Penelope a bath.
Then, the six of us went to the beach.  Penelope really enjoyed her first trip to the beach, all snuggled in with Dad.
