It’s that time of year again, time to visit Zoo Atlanta. As always, we had a terrific time, though it was in the 90’s. A nice addition this year was a splash fountain for the kids. Hope you enjoy the pics!!
Parakeet Aviary- we got to feed the birds
Glenda Giraffe- Penny was lucky enough to be one of the few to feed her. When it was Teddy’s turn, he unfortunately dropped his stick down on the ground which seemed to upset Glenda and she ran off (though Steve was able to get a good shot of her looking a little annoyed)
Lion Den-
Gorillas and Orangoutangs
Panda Bears-
Much needed break to play-
Kidzone- including petting zoo, carousel, train and splash fountain
On Thursday we visited the Center for Puppetry Arts. We started with the morning production of The Cat in the Hat. I had never been to a puppet show, but it was amazing. Teddy was transfixed by the performance, he sat still for the 45 mins and loved it! Penny enjoyed it as well as she knows the story and was really able to follow along with the story. I loved watching it and also enjoyed hearing all the kids laughing at all the jokes. Definitely can’t wait to go to another performance! We then went through the museum which was small but full of puppets from all around the world. We then got to go upstairs and got to make cat and the hat shadow puppets. I can’t say it enough, we really loved going to the Center for Puppetry and encourage all that are in the Atlanta area to go.
Penny and Teddy went to day for their first haircuts. Penny went in wanting a style, and ended up getting a few inches trimmed off while Teddy got a little man haircut. Will post an after shot of Penny at a later date (apparently, didn’t take one 🙁 )
On Tuesday after a wonderful lunch at Antico, best pizza I have ever had, we head to Atlanta Botanical Gardens. The gardens were beautiful, full of lush gorgeous plants, magical living sculptures, and they even had a childrens’ garden full of interesting plants, fountains, play equipment, and themed areas. To say Penny and Teddy had a blast would be an understatement. They were able to spend the afternoon running around in a beautiful setting, even got to play in a brief but strong summer shower. It was an enchanting day for all!
