Over the ocean and across the country…
to Grams and Grandpa Tom’s we go.
Penelope aced another intercontinental journey from Chile to the US. It was a pretty exciting time at the airport. TWO big earthquakes were felt from nearby Valparaiso (6.2 and 6.0 magnitude!!) and Penelope loved her first time in a high chair.
Once here in Connecticut, we’ve been settling in around the Christmas tree. Penelope already has her eye on some presents with her name on them.

Of course, she is already getting in some good time with Grams and Grandpa Tom.

Why the winter hat? BECAUSE IT IS COLD AND SNOWY AND NOT THE SUMMER WE LEFT BEHIND. We were hoping for a white Christmas, but weren’t expecting the foot of snow we may get tonight!

It’s beginning to feel a lot like xmas!
Gone are the blue skies and warm weather. Today, Penny and I woke up to a cold dreary day. We decided to stay in and cuddle. I got her all cozy warm in a snowman onesie with pink fleece pants, which she looks adorable in. We’ve been playing with her toys this morning, and it’s so amazing to see the advances she’s made. She now reaches out and grabs her toys, puts them in her mouth, and will put them down then find them again.
Poor Leyna has been feeling neglected lately. While I was taking the pics of PEnny and her toys Leyna jumped on the couch and put her head in Penny’s lap, which Penny then grabbed and tried to stick her ear in her mouth. Leyna just rolled her eyes, gave Penny’s hand a lick and jumped off the couch and went to sleep on the bed. I can’t believe how well Leyna is doing with Penny Jean. She’s made remarkable progress from the first week of Penny’s life where she hid from us the whole time and now she seeks out Penny to say hi.

the saying a “watched pot never boils”, well apparently it can be applied to Penny. Lately, after putting her down on her back to play, when I’m not watching, she flips to her stomach. I’ve watched her and played with her for hours and she won’t do it, but as soon as my back is turned she must flip right over, because when I glance back she’s on her tummy babbling away.

Today Penny had her 5 month check up. She weighs 16.1 lbs, is 25.4 in and her head circumference is 16.3 in. Our Dr. told us we can start her on food now, though we’ve decided to wait until we come back from our holiday trip.
It’s a beautiful day today, so Penny and I spent some time outside hanging out on the patio-
Looked at all the pretty flowers-
Penny had a great weekend and was super excited that she got to hang out with her dad. She loves playing with him and dancing with him!
Cute pic of her in a pretty dress-

Over the weekend, we had beautiful weather here in La Serena. We took Penelope to the beach for some photo ops, and I have to say, she is my daughter, SHE LOVED IT!!!! On a side note, I think we found “the one”, you’ll just have to wait to see it.

So, all the pics that I’m posting have not made the cut for the christmas card, but I think they’re pretty cute. Here are some from today. Still trying to capture the perfect picture. Maybe we’ll get it tomorrow when we do a destination shoot…
Haven’t found it yet
I’ve spent the past few days trying to get “the” picture for our christmas card. Here are a few of my favorites, though I haven’t found “the one” yet. I’m having fun trying, and can’t wait to get the perfect picture!
5 months!
Today was Penelopes 5 month birthday. To celebrate we snuggled in bed all morning, played, went to the grocery store, listened to christmas music and started to put up the christmas tree. Penelope got to watch her first christmas movie, and I’m sorry to say it was Fred Claus (not very good), we will need to rectify this and watch a classic this week, maybe White Christmas, It’s a Wonderful Life or The Christmas Story, hmm…

Helping me with the tree
Watching me put together the tree-
Penny is now sound asleep in bed after a long day, dreaming of her dad I’m sure, and excited that he’s coming home tomorrow!

Now that Penelope is getting older. she is able to amuse herself more and more everyday. I put her in her crib yesterday while I took a shower and I came out to find her…
playing happily in her crib and babbling away. What a good baby!
